What a great weekend! Many thanks to all the players and parents who ventured across the water to Dublin. Our hosts were absolutely fantastic and ensured above all else that our travelling parents were both well fed and well hydrated! The boys played some lovely football and finished the day having scored some great goals, showed lovely comibination play, mixed the ages, played both 9-a-side and 11-a-side, and held their cool in a penalty shoot-out! Can't wait for the next adventure! Link to some photos: http://www.bathcityyouthfc.co.uk/bpsfa_v_killester/
Match reports
Well done to the Under 8s and under 9s who took part in a training match against Chilcompton U9 and 10s today. The parents were treated to a goal feast, some great techique, and even some excellent play.See you at training on Friday
Bath beat Gloucester's unbeaten record on Saturday when P Osbourne managed to finish one of the many chances created by a good team performance. Well done lads, Bring on the Irish...Details will appear soon.
Thanks to all those who came to the training day, it was a great success. Inspired, the year 6s went onto perform brilliantly against SE Cornwall with 5 goals coming from Jake and year 5 Tom Hull adding another in the 9-2 win. No training in half term week but look forward to seeing you soon.
We have two spaces available for the ski trip in December. Anyone interested please give Tim a ring.
BPSFA U11 v Plymouth: 22 players took part in the 9-a-side fixture against Plymouth this afternoon with the final score eventually going in Plymouth's favour by 2 goals to one. It was a lovely afternoon with 3 under 10s also getting a run out with the 'senior team'. Most pleasing were the large number of chances created and the endeavour in continually playing out from the back despite the consant pressure. Great effort boys well done.
The under 11/12 team played a fantastic game against Copenhagen last night with the score finishing 3-1. Bath & Wilts took the lead through Dan D but Copenhagen's strength and quick passing proved too much for us in the end. It was an excellent game though and much to be taken from it for both teams. Indeed the Copenhagen staff asked me to pass on their thanks and compliments for the way in which you played. Well done boys.
The under 10s played Gloucester on a wind and rain swept evening last night. Despite the horrendous conditions, our boys put in a good performance as they showed good shape, a high level of skill and scored some lovely goals. Score 6-3. Next stop...Chilcompton!
The under 11s travelled to Cornwall on Saturday and earned a 3-3 draw. Last year's Wembley finalists took a 2-0 lead after our boys failed to shake off the effects of the journey. However, despite the nightmare 1st two periods we played much better in the 3rd and 4th quarters and created numerous chances. Jake scored two goals and young Tom H scored another to secure a 4th draw of the season!
Team and individual photos have now arrived. Please make orders direct with A&M photography. Deadline is in a couple of weeks time.
The pre-season camps were a big success! Everyone survived unscathed and a few laughs were had by all, mostly at the expense of the coaches but never mind. Excellent start boys!
The under 10s travelled to Berkshire on Tuesday in their first outing under the Bath & Wilts banner. Feeling the strain of the camp, both teams still put in good performances but could not stop the strong opposition from coming out on top 4-2 and 5-0 after 4 periods in each game. The year 6s played their first 11-a-side game against the same opposition and eventually went down 8-3. Scrappy opened the scoring for Bath & Wilts and J Andrews scored two fantastic long range goals but was then unfortunately unable to convert two penalties. Once again, a pretty good performance from which to build.
Congratulations to Tom Jones who has been nominated as the under 11s captain for this season. In the under 10s Toby Harding will captain the squad with Liam Dimambro stepping in as his assistant. All are good role models and will help in the smooth running of the season I am sure.
Gymnastics has been a great success so far and the parents watching will have hopefully also identified the long term benefits to be gained from a regular programme in the sport. Sessions will continue this week on Weds and Thurs. THERE IS NO GYM ON Friday as the facility has now been booked out. See you there! We are also putting together a programme to run through the school term.
